Why Raw
Because raw is biologically appropriate.
We wanted the best food for our dogs and couldn’t find it.
Look at your dog’s teeth starting with the small incisors in the front (used for nibbling small shreds of meat and for grooming), the fang teeth (used for gripping and tearing, holding objects and self-defense), the premolars (used to tear or shear meat off bone) and the back molars, 2 on each side of top jaw and 3 on each side of bottom jaw (used to crack and crush bone for consumption or to access marrow). It is evident that kibble should not be consumed by dogs, just as humans should not consume raw meat and bone as our teeth and digestive system were not designed for consuming raw meat. A dog’s anatomy is equipped to safely consume raw food just as their relative the wolf has done for ages.
Because the benefits of a raw diet are clear.
Cleaner teeth, a shinier coat, fewer skin and allergy problems, a strong immune system and an overall increase in vitality all result from healthy eating. Your pet will also produce smaller, less odourous stools and will not have that ‘doggy’ smell that so many kibble-fed dogs have. Rotating protein sources will provide your dog with the essential nutrients it needs to restore and support a healthy immune system and serving raw meaty bones will satisfy your dog’s inherent need to chew whilst cleaning its teeth and providing a good work out for neck and jaw muscles.
Because raw is easy.
Making the switch to raw is simple. Most pets can switch immediately, provided they have fasted from a processed diet for at least 24 hours (12 hours for toy breeds). A single protein source (i.e. chicken) can be fed regularly until your pet has successfully adjusted to a raw diet. Rotating protein sources thereafter is recommended so that your pet can acquire a variety of nutrients. If you’re making the switch to a raw diet you may see your pet’s eyes and ears produce a bit more mucous or wax and you will notice that your pet’s stool has changed. This is often seen by pets that have only ingested a kibble-based diet as their immune and digestive systems are adjusting to a natural diet. If these symptoms do appear typically they should not last very long, it is just a sign that your pet’s immune system has kicked in and is ridding the body of built-up toxins.
Because there is no substitute for a raw diet.
